How do you treat impacted cheek pouch for syrain hamsters?

An impacted cheek pouch is very serious for a hamster. It's when they get food stuck in their pouch. This can be avoided by not feeding your hamster soft foods like cheese or banana, even raisins/sultanas and berry-fruits can be a bad choice if your hamster is a heavy poucher. However an impact can also happen with bedding. It will just look like a swelling on the side of their face, and it can be difficult to tell if it is impacted or if your hamster is just pouching things. If you notice that their pouch has been full for some time (generally give it a night or two) try lightly massaging the pouch, this may dislodge the food and allow you hamster to de-pouch it. You must be gentle as the pouch is a very delicate area. If massaging does not help, then you will need to take your hamster to a vet. Depending on the severity of the impacted pouch, the vet may be able to dislodge it manually, or whilst your hamster is under anesthetic. In the worst cases, the impacted pouch will have caused an abscess and infections, and the hamster will need to be put to sleep. Always take care with what you feed you hamsters!

What kind of animals live in Madagascar?

Madagascar has an unusual mix of wildlife. For example, the island does not have apes, monkeys, elephants, zebras, giraffes, lions, hyenas, rhinos, antelopes, buffalo, or camels that you might expect to find in Africa, but it does have lemurs, tenrecs, boa constrictors, iguanas, and other creatures.Due to its remote location, Madagascar was long untouched by the modern world. As with more than 9000 species of plants unique to the island, many animals live there that are extinct elsewhere. These include lemurs (primates), tenrecs (shrews), the fossa (a catlike relative of the mongoose), and other bats, rodents, and birds.
