That is a series number...no capacity. The next set of numbers give you the capacity. Generally, Lennox unit numbers equate to their capacity divided by 1000. IE: XXX90 has about 90,000 BTUH capacity...7.5 tons.
The general rule is for manufacturers to list the capacity of the units in thousands of BTUH. Hence 36,000 btuh divided by 12,000 btuh per ton = 3ton. lc
Assuming that the unit has the standard blower system and motor, the unit's capacity at 75F and 45% RH is 279,000 btuh TCC and 256,600 btuh SCC with 53 gpm of 85F water.
The THR of this condenser is approximately 220,000 btuh based on a 25F TD.
* Single Room Air Conditioner Capacity - typically for rooms up to 20' x 20' or 400 sq.ft. in area. BTUs in this product range are typically from 6,000 BTUh to 10,000 BTUh. * Multiple Room Air Conditioner Capacity - typically for a total area of up to 800 sq.ft. BTUs in this product range are typically from 10,000 BTUh to 16,000 BTUh. * Large Capacity Air Conditioner Capacity - typically for multiple rooms or very large rooms up to a total area from 900 sq. ft. to 2,000 sq.ft. BTUs in this product range are typically from 16,000 to 28,000 BTUh.http://www.inspect-ny.com/aircond/AirConditionerChart.htm
Based on typical ac equipment naming conventions - 48 - in the model number indicates 48,000 btuh nominal or about 4 tons cooling capacity.
12,000 btuh = 1 ton cooling.
PSIG has nothing to do with CFM. Ratings for a/c units and heat pumps are generally 400 cfm/ ton of capacity. 12,000 Btuh is one ton of refrigeration. So if the a/c unit is 6000 btuh, it would be a half ton unit.
4 to 5 tons depending on outside unit capacity, orifice size and blower speed. 48 in the model numbers represents 48000 BTUH, 60 means 60000 BTUH, 1 ton = 12000 BTUH. Goodman changed models a few years ago to allow for inventory reduction so this model will provide with 4 or 5 tons depending on how it is matched.
1 watt = 3.413 Btuh 1 kW = 3413 Btuh
3.5 ton NO! its a 3-TON!!!
