The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is written in first person through the eyes of Katniss. The genre of this book is Science Fiction because it takes place in the future.

The conflict of this book was that Katniss wanted to get Peeta and herself out of the Hunger Games alive. The problem with this is that there are other tributes who also want to stay alive. Because of this Peeta and Katniss ally up together to stay alive. The problem with this is that only one tribute could get out alive. Later though the rules changed saying that two tributes from the same district could win.

The main character, Katniss, is determined and strong she proved this by surviving the games for her mother and sister. Katniss is also sneaky because back in the district she snuck out to hunt for her family to have food.

The mood of this book is suspenseful and scary. Proof of this is when Katniss' ally, rue, got killed she hunted down the killer and shot him in the neck. Also towards the end of this book the last tribute, Cato, got killed by a pack of dogs.
