He was a porter for Rekh the goldsmith. Then, later in the book he becomes Gebu's stonecutting apprentice. :)
In the begginning, Ranofer was a porter for Rekh the goldsmith, then he became Gebu the stonecutter's apprentice, also his half brother, and in the end he becomes Zau's the Master goldsmith's apprentice.
After Ranofer finds the Golden Goblet, he decides to follow Gebu to the Land of the Dead, after over hearing his evil half-brother's plans. Ranofer then tells the Queen that Gebu is stealing from a tomb. Gebu is caught and hung, and Ranofer recieves a donkey from the Queen.
a golden goblet!?!? what did you think it was!?!?!
Gebu beat him and was suspicious.
