Basically, Sirius Black escaped Azkaban and was "coming to kill Harry." Harry tries to kill him because he betrayed his parents and is Harry's godfather. But it is a whole misunderstanding! I won't spoil.

Is there a real person named Harry Potter?

Harry Potter is not based on an actual person. JK Rowling has been quoted as saying: I had been writing almost continuously since the age of six but I had never been so excited about an idea before. I simply sat and thought, for four (delayed train) hours, and all the details bubbled up in my brain, and this scrawny, black-haired, bespectacled boy who did not know he was a wizard became more and more real to me. The actor who brought Harry to life on the screen is Daniel Radcliffe. Radcliffe played Harry Potter in all of the movies.

Who are these strange people that come up to talk to Harry Potter on the street?

Just random wizards and witches that have heard of Harry Potter, but who don't know him personally - and of course, Harry Potter doesn't know them. The idea is that Harry Potter is famous, due to his defeat of Lord Voldemort when he was one year old - of which he remembers hardly anything, and (at first) has no idea how it might have happened.

Why did the author of Harry Potter write on this subject rather than on another?

J.K. Rowling said the idea of Harry Potter came to her when she was on a train. Presumably she wrote the book because she liked the idea and the world she created.
