What is the mistakes the spainsish Armada made?

Philip asked Elizabeth to marry him but she said no! Elizabeth I of England was a protestant and Phillip II of Spain was catholic and they were enemies not just because of their different religions but also because Elizabeth had hired a pirate by the name Sir Francis drake to steal merchandise from "the new land" (America) which belonged to the Spanish. Phillip was also mad because Elizabeth executed her next heir to the throne because she was catholic Mary queen of Scott's.

Firstly, on 6 August 1588 at midnight, the Spanish Armada anchored at Calais to pick up their troops. The English filled eight ships with flammable material and set fire to them. The Spanish panicked and fled to the open sea, straight into the gunfire of the waiting English. Many captains cut their anchors off. In the open sea, the Armada wasn't in formation, (the cresant shape) so the Spanish ships were easy targets for the English artillery.-fire ships

We should also consider that the two fleets met in the English Channel. There were many more Spanish ships than the English ships but the English ships were smaller and easy to manoeuvre. This would turn out to be a great advantage for the English. The English ships went fast because they were small but the Spanish ships were big so they were very slow and that is why when the English got scattered they caught up.-ships

Another important reason why the English were able to defeat the Armada was that the wind blew the Spanish ships northwards. Strong winds and terrible rain forced many ships onto rocks near Ireland. The English celebrated their victory with a medal saying 'God Blew and they were scattered' -weather

Something else which explains the defeat is that the stores put on board the new ships rotted as the barrels that contained the food and water were made of new wood which was still damp. This rotted the food and made the water sour.-preparations

Another significant factor is that Philip was silly because he had more soldiers than sailors some even got sea sick and complained, also Santa Cruz died. The Duke of Medina was put in command who had seasick even his mother complained.
