Many different types. His favorite was not the calabash, as many people assume (it is never mentioned in the books) but rather the long stemmed briar pipe known as a Churchwarden. He is also mentioned using a clay pipe. The pipe he is most commonly depicted with, and that has become synonymous with his name, is however the Calabash.

Sherlock Holmes had a pipe rack to hold all his pipes in 'A Case of Identity', and in 'The Adventure of the Dying Detective' he had a litter of pipes on the mantelpiece. In 'The Red-Headed League', 'A Case of Identity', 'The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle', 'The Hound of the Baskervilles', 'The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton', and 'The Adventure of the Creeping Man' Holmes smoked an old, unsavoury, and oily black clay pipe, which was "to him as a counsellor" and "companion of his deepest meditations." In 'The Adventure of the Copper Beeches' it was a "long cherrywood pipe which was wont to replace his clay when he was in a disputatious rather than a meditative mood." In 'The Sign of Four', 'The Adventure of the Priory School', and 'The Adventure of the Creeping Man' Holmes smoked an amber-stemmed, briar-root pipe.

In a related note Holmes often smoked a "before-breakfast pipe, which was composed of all the plugs and dottles left from his smokes of the day before, all carefully dried and collected on the corner of the mantelpiece." The mantelpiece was also where he kept his tobacco in the toe-end of a Persian slipper.

The pipes drawn by Sidney Paget and others for The Strand magazine were straight-stemmed and nothing like the curve-stemmed Calabash or Meerschaum pipe introduced by the actor William Gillette and others for they were easier to hold and talk with at the same time.

Dunhill black sandblasted (rusticated) billard w/saddleback stem. You can purchase them from any Dunhill distributor in the US or UK but theyre all going to be unique, so it wont be 100% accurate to the movie and theyre $400+.

Medico makes a similar smooth one with a saddleback stem for $25. It's made from Brylon ('plastic')

Whitehall #35 is also similar. You can normally find them used 'estate' on eBay for $11 - $100 depending on age and condition.
