Thalia Grace.
Thalia did not die in the Percy Jackson series. However, when she, Annabeth, Luke, and Grover where at Half-Blood Hill, Hades sent a bunch of monsters after Thalia. She told Grover to take Annabeth and Luke to Camp Half-Blood while she fought off the monsters. The monsters started killing her, and her father, Zeus, turned her into a pine tree before she could die. The pine tree on Half Blood Hill was Thalia, and her spirit protected the camp with the magical border. When they put the Golden Fleece on the pine tree (end of the second book, The Sea of Monsters) the Fleece did it's work to well and turned Thalia back into a human.
The camp that Percy went to was called Camp Half-Blood. Camp Half-Blood was a camp for children who had a godly parent, namely demigods. Camp Half-Blood was a place for demigods to train and battle and was a refuge from monsters. Percy went to Camp Half-Blood in every book of the Percy Jackson series.
It's this camp in this series called Percy Jackson and the Olympians where you train and get prepared for quests, fighting monsters, etc.
Because they didn't have the golden fleece on the tree and that protects the camp from monsters getting in.

The Sea of Monsters was about entering the Bermuda Triangle to rescue Grover and find the Golden Fleece to save Camp Half-Blood.
She was the daughter of Zeus, and when She was running to Camp Half Blood with Annabeth and Luke about Seven years ago, led by Grover, they made a wrong and ended up in a cyclops lair etc. .... anyway she sacrificed herself to protect her friends from all the monsters that were chasing them and Zeus turned her into a pine tree taking pity on her so her soul now protects the camp from monsters
Thalia sacrificed herself to save her friends, Annabeth and Luke, from an attack by a horde of monsters. Zeus turned her into a pine tree to preserve her essence, allowing her spirit to live on and act as a barrier to protect Camp Half-Blood.
Because they didn't have the golden fleece on the tree and that protects the camp from monsters getting in.
Camp Half-Blood is used as a refuge and a training camp for young demigods (Half-Bloods). Half-Bloods go to Camp Half-Blood to train, or to escape the mortal world. The mortal world is filled with monsters, and eventually the demigods need a place to regroup. Camp Half-Blood provides that for young demigods. The training that the Camp gives prepares the demigods for the mortal world, which is filled with constant danger.
In the book "Sea of Monsters" by Rick Riordan, the settings include Camp Half-Blood where demigods are trained, the mysterious island of Polyphemus with its lair, the Sea of Monsters itself where dangerous creatures lurk, and modern-day locations like New York City. These settings help to create a vivid world where the characters navigate their challenges and quests.
