What is the story of The Lightning Thief?

Zues, God of the Sky, had his master bolt stolen. The master bolt is his symbol, like the trident for Poesidon. (God of the Ocean)

Zues, Poesidon, and Hades (God of the Underworld) are the three major gods, and they are brothers. (The Big Three)

The Big Three weren't supposed to have children after WWII, for their children caused too much trouble. They also were the strongest demigods, and attracted the most monsters. And Poesidon just admitted he had a kid, Percy Jackson.

Now, Poesidon and Zues were in a fight, and Zues suspects that Percy took his bolt, because it is against the law to directly interfere with another God's stuff. But, it's not against the law to have your kids take it.

So Percy, his satyr (half-goat) friend Grover, and Annabeth (daughter of Athena) go on a quest across the United States to prove that Percy is innocent.

But to do that they must travel to the Underworld to retrieve the bolt. Along the way, they meet Medusa, Ares (God of War), the Chimera, Ceberus, and many more mythical monsters and Gods/Goddesses.

This is a diffrent answer. Zues thought that Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman) stole his lightning bolt. But the truth is Percy did not steal anything. Who rellay did was Luke, son of Hermes. As zues says at the beginning ' The bolt must be returned to me by June 22nd or the summer saulsus otherwise there will be war'. So Percy and his best friend grover (half goat) went to Half blood camp.

There they met the daughter of Athena, Annabeth who immedlieted joined Percy's side. Once a huge bull killed Percy's mother, the 3 Percy, gorver and annabeth found out that she was still alive. She was in hell or the underworld with Percy's uncle, hades.

Luke the lightning thieth gave Percy flying shoes ( which was a preety good weapon ) and a shield which the bolt was hidden in. Percy didnt find that out until he finally saw his monther in hell. Luke told them that getting in is the easy part but getting out, that's tricky. So the 3 set of to first get the 3 perls located in the USA. They are the only things that help to escape the underworld. One was in Madusas hand in Chicago, one was in a greek musem in New Jersy and the final one was Lotus casino, Vegas. Hell was in Hollywood.

Just step on a perl in hades'es area and away you go. But it appers to seem that 1 perl sends away 1 person. So grover stayed and when the bolt was returned to zues he rewarded Percy by giving grover back to him. It doesn't say if he punished Luke or not, but im prety sure he did.

My final word. Percy found out he was son of Poisiden just at Half blood camp. And Percy had already punished luke on his way to heavan in the empire state bulding, New york.

The Book Answer:

Percy is a 6th grader, at a school because he's gotten kicked out of a lot of schools. It's because demigods have ADHD because they're not meant to be in a school they're meant to be on the battle field. They also have dislexia. No one but Percy's mom knows who his father. The god of the sea, Poisiden. Percy and Grover are on the bus to got home. Percy ditches Grover and sneaks home. Percy's mom and him got to go on a trip to the beach.

Grover meets up wearing fuzzy pants, only it turns out he is a satyr. A minotaur starts chasing them. Percy and Grover makes it to Camp Half-Blood but His mom is taken away by Hades the God of the Dead. Percy wakes up being fed some abrosriac by Annabeth. She has blond hair and stormy grey eyes. He istantly likes her. The only thing she tells him is that he drools in his sleep. He is put the Hermes cabin. It is very over crowded and is for unclaimed children. He plays steal the flag. The daughter of the god of war, Aires caused him to show off his powers and Poisiden claims him as a son. Annabeth kind of has mixed feeling since her mom and his dad hate each other.

He is given a quest by Delphi the Oracle. Annabeth and Grover go with him. They are on a bus when the people that attacked Percy in the museum. They go through a series of explosions. They meet Mudusa and Percy cuts off her head. He sends it to the Greek Gods. They get stuck at a casino in Las Vegas. They do leave and find that there is one day left. They ride in a taxi all the way to Los Angeles. An ocean goddess gives them 3 pearls. They figure Hades had someone steal it for him. They meet up with Hades. He laughs at them because the underworld is constant expantion. The shoes that Luke gave them try to take him to the pit of Kronos. Luke had stole it after Kronos had suggested it. Luke then had convinced Aires to help him he tried to kill Percy at the end of the book. It continues on to The Sea of Monsters It is by Rick Riodorian
