  • One of the strongest themes in Anne of Green Gables is that of living deeply. Anne it is stated at one point experiences everything intensely. She is either ecstatic or in the throes of agony. While that does leave her vulnerable, it also allows us to experience life in a more fuller manner.
  • It also talks about the underlying commonality beneath surface differences, as far as human nature is concerned. The shy Matthew, the stern Marilla, the critical Rachel all nonetheless share a warmth and kindness beneath their contrasting appearances.
