Katniss is pretty good at survival, though, so she doesn't have too much trouble taking care of herself. One of the most challenging parts is being what the capital wants her to be while in the public eye.
Or if you were referring to the type of contest she is expected to be in, it is a fight to the death. She must fight off 23 other kids to be the winner. The government formed the Games after the rebellions to keep the districts in line. The point is to show how powerful it is by saying "look, we're so powerful, we can take your kids and make them kill each other, and you're so weak you can't do anything about it," like how a man might beat his girlfriend in an abusive relationship to get her to submit to him.

∙ 12y agoKatniss has competed in the 74th and 75th Hunger Games. She won the 74th with Peeta, but escaped from the 75th 'Quarter Quell'. She escaped when she shot her arrow into the force feild's weak spot and the lightning struck the tree. This gave the hover craft from Disrict Thirteen a chance to swoop in rescue them.
