Very intelligent, well-educated, in posession of a good political instinct and at times showing a good sense of humour. She could be impatient, was a bit of a worrier, and if necessary could show (studied) fits of anger in which she could swear like a sailor. She was loyal to old friends and held on to trusted advisors for sometimes decades - she had a good eye for talent in others. She much liked to be flattered and have courtiers profess their undying love for her and her beauty. She was vain, but strangely enough - and contrary to habit among royals of the era - she had only a few portraits of herself painted during her lifetime.

Records of Queen Elizabeth's personality state that she was level headed, and intelligent. She had a knack for learning and loved it ever since she was a young girl. When she became Queen, her friends and enemies alike were recorded commenting that she had a natural ability to lead. She processed things well, and didn't jump to conclusions. There was the occasional outburst, for example when the Ambassador of Spain angered her, however a degree of anger was warranted in these instances.

Over all, Queen Elizabeth I seemed to be a conscious, well learned, and humble person.

She was known as Good Queen Bess. Elizabeth I was the last of the Tudor Dynasty and many books and two good, historically accurate movies have been done on her life- both starring Bette Davis. There are all sorts of nuances such as the War against the Spanish Armada, religious conflicts- the execution of Mary ,Queen of Scots in l587 and so on, worth looking into. Elizabeth Lies buried under a magnificent marble effigy in Westminster Abbey and indeed, is probably the most famous Queen buried there. ( Victoria is buried in the Frogmore Mausoleum, not the abbey).
