Sherlock Holmes was not the type to believe in the supernatural so his faith in anything would not be unquestioning. There is a line in The Adventure of the Gloria Scott where, while he is telling a story about his friend Victor Trevor, Holmes said he had been on his way to chapel when Trevor's dog bit his ankle. Therefore, one can assume he was of a Christian background of some sort. One could also make an argument that he was more of an athiest but had to study religious things in case of a case involving religion. There have been stories, though, of him being of other religions but those are fan created.

Most people in the Victorian Era were practicing some form of Christianity, especially those who were born and bred Englishmen. Whether Catholic or Protestant, orthodox or unceremonius, or whether or not their belief was strong, Christianity was dominant and predominant with some expressions in the way of speaking from that time period coming straight out of The Bible.

Those who were Jewish or practiced other religions were a minority in comparison but they were around. Whole sections of some towns and cities were considered places where those of a certian faith lived and/or gathered to socialize.

Whatever religion Sherlock Holmes grew up with, whatever he himself believed, he would, as a detective, have studied other beliefs as well because they just might be important in a case.

What religion did Sherlock Holmes study? It would likely make a shorter list to ask "What religion(s) didn't Sherlock Holmes study?" and a more accurate question to inquire "What religion does Sherlock Holmes believe in?" if the query was meant as such.
