None, he was an Atheist. Actually he was an agnostic, not an atheist, as Charles Chaplin Jr. testifies:

"I'm not an atheist," I can remember him saying on more than one occasion. "I'm definitely an

agnostic. Some scientists say that if the world were to stop revolving we'd all disintegrate. But

the world keeps on going. Something must be holding us all in place--some Supreme Force. But

what it is I couldn't tell you."

Charlie Chaplin was baptized in an Anglican church by his English parents, and he has memories of his mother taking him to Anglican worship services. There is not one shread of evidence that any of his ancestors were ethnically Jewish, or that he or his parents ever practiced the Jewish faith.

Stories that he was Jewish began early in his career as a smear campaign. Chaplin was smart enough to realize that, if he denied these stories, he would be admitting that being Jewish was something to be ashamed of -- meaning the Jew-haters would have won. Thus, he refused to deny them.
