Seth. Son of Adam and Eve, born in the 130th year of Adam's life in mortality (Luke 3:38; Moses 6:1-3; 6:9-11). A prophet and patriarch, he was ordained by Adam at the age of 69 years. He is called "a perfect man, and his likeness was the express likeness of his father, insomuch that he seemed to like unto his father in all things" The record says he lived 912 years (Gen. 5:8; There is little to show in scripture what Seth did, but no doubt like his father Adam he preached the gospel to his brothers and sisters and lived a righteous life.

Seth (c. 2425-1825 BC) was perhaps the only man post Adam who saw so much grief. Considering he survived the catastrophic worldwide flood, he witnessed the great apostacy of his bretheren Cush and son Nimrod (Ninus) which his righteousness must have grieved greatly. Seth lived to bury 7 generations of his descendants, having lived 502 years after the flood and the lives of men where rapidly shortened afther said event (Genesis 11:10-32).

In Celtic writings Shem equates to 'Ogmius' from the Celtic word Ogum which is said to denote 'the secret of writing' or the name of their god. Ogmius translates to 'The Lamenter or Mourner,' and fits quite nicely for Shem's history.

Extrabiblical writings note the Celtic Hercules being called Hercules Orgmius which the Chaldee translate as 'Hercules the Lamenter.' The Egyptian Hercules who overcame 'Giants' (great men like Nimrod) is referred to as Sem (Sir W. Betham's Gael and Cymbri).

The mighty Nimrod (Ninus), who began his rule circa 2192 BC about 30yrs of age, is said to have been brought to a terrible death by Shem the Righteous in Egypt after a trial. His body was dismembered and sent throughout the known world to show the fate of the Apostate.
