In the beginning of Chapter 13, Percy learns that he's really good with a boat, and he reflects on what just happened, Percy getting turned into a guinea pig on Circe's Island, worrying about Grover who's still in that cave "sewing a wedding train" for the giant Cyclops who thinks he's a girl and wants to marry him, and missing Tyson, who he thinks is dead from the explosion on the ship. He and Annabeth are sailing peacefully, Annabeth awake at first but then goes to lie down. After a while she wakes up and shows Percy one of the forges of Hephaestus, which is like some volcano island. Then Percy persuades Annabeth to tell him about why Annabeth hates Cyclopes and that having something to do with how Thalia died. After the long story, Percy goes back to sleep, and has a dream, as always. He's in Luke's room on the Princess Andromeda, with Kronos's sarcophagus glowing in front of him, and spirits of the dead whispering "Beware, traps, trickery." He hears Kronos' voice taunting him, telling him he can't kill him, and Percy gets the urge to open the coffin and stab him. A girl dressed in punk clothes, spiky black hair, stormy blue eyes and dark eyeliner and silver chains on her wrists pressure him to hurry up, and when he doesn't move, she takes matters into her own hands, opened to coffin, and it began to glow, and there was an evil laugh and then Percy woke up. Annabeth tells him that he's approaching the island of the Sirens, those vulture things that sing, and you drift toward them and climb to them and get closer until they can devour you. Annabeth admits she wants to hear the Sirens, because she thinks she'll be wiser if she survives it and hears. Percy agrees and ties her to the mast of the boat, and they trudge forward. Pretty soon Annabeth is hooked and want to get off that boat and go to the Sirens, and then when Percy isn't looking she escapes. She tries swimming toward the island, and Percy wills the currents to take them deeper and farther away from the island, grabbing onto her. She realizes that the deeper he goes, the less Annabeth can hear the Sirens, and makes an air bubble way deep in the ocean for him and Annabeth. She starts crying once she comes back to herself, and Percy holds her so cutely until she's done. Percy tells her that he saw the vision of what Annabeth wanted the most when she heard them, and they talk about fatal flaws. Annabeth tells Percy her fatal flaw is hubris, and then they get to the Cyclops' place. That's it!
