What was the final outcome of the film Changling starring Angelina Jolie?

First off, you should watch the movie Changeling because it's very much Oscar worthy (and i believe should have one!) but anyway, the outcome was that her son was probably killed. Another boy was found (he'd escaped) and mentioned that Angelina's characters son was the one who helped him escape from the killer/kidnapper. Still, in the end, it was said that she never found her son, but never stopped looking
