Green Lantern of the golden age is a different bloke than Hal Jordan, the best known Modern Green Lantern. His name was Alan Scott, he had blonde hair, and his straight occupation was an engineer. somewhat oddly he had a sidekick called Doiby Dickles who was a Brooklynese-spouting cab driver. ( possibly real name was Derby Dickles). Mr. Scott accidentally found the magical Green Lantern on a construction site- and used his superpowers to prevent a bridge accident ( we could use such a man around the Port Authority!) so it went.
