Holmes's birthday is generally accepted as January 6th 1854, this date is not actually recorded in Sir Arthur's documents and he is believed to be British.

There is no mention of Sherlock Holmes' birthplace in any of Conan Doyle's writings. We only know that Holmes came "up to London," which means he moved to London from elsewhere.

Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and was technically never born nor killed. Apparently, he was born January 6, 1854, but we do not know where he was born. He never died in the books, and though he was almost killed off in The Adventure of the Final Problem, he returned later on in the Return of Sherlock Holmes.

I read that Holmes was born on 6 January, 1854. But I have no idea when he officially died after retiring to bee-keeping. I'd love to know this last fact too!
