They have not been married. Brad Pitt was quoted in the magazine Esquire as saying that they will only marry "when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able." There is not federal legal recognition of same sex marriage in the USA.
While the above is true, Brad was getting a lot of pressure from his children to marry Angelina so he finally proposed. Their engagement was announced on April 13, 2012.

They have said many things regarding this such as: "When everyone is legally able to wed, we will" "We've both been married before, and feel no need to have a piece of paper to prove that were committed to each other" "I'm sure one day our children will ask us to, and maybe then we will just have to"
But they aren't married. They have just been "completely committed to one another" since 2005
