Disneyland opened to the public on July 18th, 1955 at 10 AM PDT. There was a Press Preview that was televised on July 17th 1955, which some folks think was opening day, but all the Disneyland documentation while Walt Disney was alive always stated that Opening Day was July 18th.

But July 17, 1955 was such a fail they called it black sunday and dedication day. There was power failures soft cement that made high heels get stuck. July 18, 1955 is considered opening day.
