Disneyland opened to the public on July 18th, 1955 at 10 AM PDT.
There was a Press Preview that was televised on July 17th, which some folks think was opening day. However, all the Disneyland documentation while Walt Disney was alive always stated that Opening Day was July 18th.

∙ 7y agoDisneyland's intended official opening day was July 18, 1955. However, there was a special "preview day" for press and specially invited guests on July 17,1955, and enough people forged tickets or just jumped the fence (it's estimated that about twice as many people showed up as had been invited) that Disneyland now celebrates July 17 as its official anniversary date.

July 17 was supposed to be a "press preview day" for media and specially invited guests only, but about twice as many people as were actually invited showed up; some of them had counterfeit tickets and some just jumped the fence. July 18 was the official public opening day.
Disneyland now celebrates July 17 as its official "Anniversary" day, since ... in practice, even if not intentionally ... that was the true opening day.
