When did Harry Potter get his Hogwarts letter?

He receives his father's Invisibility Cloak (which later turns out to be one of the Deathly Hallows) as a Christmas present from an anonymous person (who later turns out to be Dumbledore).

He also receives a Nimbus 2000 broomstick from Professor McGonagall (not as a Christmas present, though).

Dobby the House Elf stopped his letters from coming, hoping that if Harry thought he had no friends, he wouldn't return to Hogwarts.

Harry Potter first received his letter from Hogwarts at 4 Privet Drive shortly before his 11th birthday. At first he was unaware of Hogwarts' existence and his Aunt and Uncle worked desperately to keep it a secret by destroying the letters he continued to received and even moving to an abandoned hut on a small island in the ocean to ensure they didn't follow. Unfortunately for them, Hagrid visited Harry on his 11th birthday and delivered the letter in person, roughly one month before the school term was due to begin.

Harry received his first letter on the 24th of July 1991. He never read it nor did he read the letters that came 25th - 30th July. He read it in the shack when Hagrid came and he gave it to Harry on the 31st July.

Hagrid and the Dursleys then argued over Harry being allowed to attend Hogwarts, which ended in Dudley being given a pigs tail. The next day Harry and Hagrid went to Diagon Alley to buy school supplies.
