- It levels up with its beauty stat at 170 or higher. Beauty cannot be raised in FireRed, LeafGreen, Black, White, Black 2, or White 2.
- When it is traded while holding the Prism Scale item. Said item only exists in Black, White, Black 2, and White 2, and it is consumed when the evolution occurs.
