Stephanie Judith Tanner (born January 14, 1982) is a fictional character from the sitcom Full House, portrayed by Jodie Sweetin. Stephanie is the daughter of Pam and Danny Tanner, and is D.J.'s younger sister and Michelle's older sister. Sweetin played Stephanie from age 5 to age 13. Stephanie often struggled with being the middle child, and even tried to get married when she was six, figuring a husband would have to pay attention to her. [1] She was the feistiest of the girls, a trait she inherited from her mother, the most talkative, a trait from Danny, and while she was a little wild in seasons six through eight - disobeyed by getting her ears pierced , joyriding, etc. - she was still quite well-behaved and very hard on herself when she did something wrong. She was very angry with herself for cutting off a lock of Jesse's then-long hair. Stephanie is very athletic, pitching on a Baseball team for two years and performing Ballet so well that she got a chance to go to the American School of Ballet, but declined because it was going to take too much time from the other important aspects of her life. During the show, Stephanie sometimes says "How rude!" when someone is a bit mean to her. Stephanie loved spying and eavesdropping on D.J. and getting into mischief. At first, she shared a room with her elder sister, but after a while her dad thought it would be better if she shared a room with her younger sister, Michelle. Stephanie had a bear named Mr. Bear, which was given to her by her mother the day that her newborn sister Michelle was brought home from the hospital [5]. She took the bear everywhere she went in the early series, and still went to bed with him until the end of the series. In the Full House books based on the show, that wild streak is not present in grades six and seven, the grades which overlap with seasons seven and eight of the TV series, but the character still has her trademark excitability and tendency to ramble, along with even an occasional "How rude!", her catchphrase from the early days of the show. The first Full House book independent of her was Phone Call From A Flamingo, and featured what would be a recurring theme in many Stephanie books, as she battles a rival gang of snobby girls in middle school. Other times, that excitability leads her to get into things way over her head, leading to comical results.She loves ballet. In books and TV, Stephanie is an excellent student, too; she could read at age four, and is an accomplished storyteller and journalist, especially in the books, where she takes after D.J.
