Ana Julia Alvarez played very important part in the El Savador Art History. Her Biography: Born: 1908 in El Savador Died: 2007 in Canada First female artist from El Savador Studied art at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes. Won the Friends of Art Society in 1930s / Amigos Del Arte Exhibition: IDB Cultural Center (Inter-American Development Bank Cultural Center) Prior to her marriage to the American pilot and metal artist William (Bill) Bovard, in 1946, Ana signed her paintings 'AJA'. When she assumed her husband's last name she signed her paintings "Ana"/Ana Bovard/A. Bovard. All sculptures and ceramics are signed "ana" (in small case lettering) but for the odd piece that is signed 'Bovard' as gifts to Bovard family members.
