Robert Bokor, (born February 24, 1968) is a Swiss conductor and violinist of Serbian and Macedonian origin. Since 2011 he is Chief Conductor of the Austrian Arpeggione Kammerorchester. Robert Bokor made his debut with the Arpeggione Kammerorchester in April 2009, replacing on short notice Vladimir Ashkenazy in the concert in Sala Verdi, Milano. From 2008 to 2012, he held a position of Artistic Director of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, enhancing the orchestra's reputation internationally.Robert Bokor was born in Skopje, Macedonia into a musician's family and grew up in Belgrade, where he also studied at the Belgrade University of Arts. Since his violin solo debut with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, when he was 11 years old, Robert Bokor had appeared as a soloist and/or a conductor with numerous orchestras throughout Europe, Israel, Asia, South & Central America and the USA, and in the major concert halls such as Sala Verdi of Milan, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Auditorium Conciliazione of Rome and Franz Liszt Academy of Budapest, before dedicating himself solely to conducting. Sought after as a performer of great stylistic diversity, Robert Bokor has been a strong advocate of contemporary music with his concert appearances including many world premieres dedicated to him.
