Around l955. The amusement or more accurately Theme Park- Disneyland had just opened- and the need was there for a show based on the grounds. matter of fact the show known to most people as the Mickey Mouse Club was originally styled (Disneyland). Name was changed to avoid confusion with the park. Disneyland is NOT mentioned in the theme song- the all-too-familiar Mickey Mouse March.

In l955. the program was originally called Disneyland and was broadcast (live) from the park of the same name, somewhere en route- the name ( of the show) was changed over to Mickey Mouse Club with the familiar costume, march, and various routines. Unlike many juvenile shows- the MMC did NOT follow the calendar, and never did any seasonal things like , for example Christmas or Easter special events. My guess this was done to heighten the half-life on reruns, which have a constant-present tense atmosphere like News shows in some aspects.
