I'm not sure if this is any help but may lead to a path for you. I am doing some research on bobbin mills and the jenne bros. machine shop, which was bought from reed supply in 1969. At that time this shop was still doing some work for bobbin equipment. There was a mill in north stratford which ran bobbins until I would guess about 1979. The last foreman's name of the mill was irvin bennet. He and his wife have passed away, but they had a son who worked in the bobbin mill there at Washburn Lumber. He may still be alive and If, I'm not mistaken, his first name was irvin also. irvin and his wife irene lived out on the south wheelock road and spent the work week up in north stratford at the wasburn mill. Also there is a small saw mill just south of lyndonville on route 5 that back in the '60's made bobbin's. So some bobbin history may be obtained there if you were to stop in. If you know of anyone that knew a man by the name of Bruce knott, who has passed away, there may be some leads there as he worked at reedsupply, jennebros back into the days when it was the jackman butler machine shop. And possibly Juliane Butler of St.johnsbury may be able to help as I believe it was his father who was the butler. I don't know if bill Herman, who was a machine shop instructer at the trade school, would have some possibilities. But some older machinist may be able to come up with something as all bobbin mills needed machine shop service. A lot of the 1920 t0 1940 bobbin lathes and splitters were made at this old jackman butler machine shop in st.johnsbury.
