The Percy Jackson series is fictional, based on some Greek mythology, legends, and myths. Rick Riordan didn't hear the stories from somewhere else then put it into writing - he started with a few ideas and eventually turned them into books and then a best selling series. He's making a sequel series, the Heroes of Olympus.
I didn't know how to add more info to the question, but the more answers the merrier. I'm doing this as an online poll for a paper. Please only answer if you have read Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Further questions: Did Percy Jackson inspire you to learn more about Greek mythology? How did it affect you as a person/ change your worldview? (this is optional, but helpful- just write what you can) Do you have dyslexia or ADHD? If so, what was your opinion on their portrayal? Feel free to add any impact the series had on you.
In the "Heroes of Olympus" series by Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson crossed the river into Camp Jupiter while suffering from amnesia. He was found by Lupa, the Roman wolf goddess, and was brought to the camp to regain his memories and learn about the Roman demigod camp. Percy was on a quest to find and unite with the other demigods of the Prophecy of Seven in order to prevent the rise of Gaea, the Earth goddess.
In chapter two of the Lightning Thief, the first book of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, Percy learns something very surprising about his friend Grover. Percy learns that Grover is a satyr. A satyr is a fantastical creature that does not exist in the real world. I am not completely sure of the physical characteristics of a satyr, but I think it may be half human, half horse.
A lesson you can learn from Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, is to never give up faith, and to believe in yourself. This book was incredible. I highly recommend you read it, unless you already read it.
Because theres not only one perseus, theres the perseus son of Zeus, another perseus that went on a quest to find and bring back his dead wife from hades and now theres the Percy Jackson son of Poseido whom stars in "Percy Jackson and the Olympians. for the benefit of those who do not study mythology...specially for those in other countries...and are starting to learn...
To learn about Poseidon (and the other gods and goddesses too) read all the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. Everything you need to know about all the gods and goddesses including Poseidon in these books!!!!
The movie is called "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief." It is based on the book of the same name by Rick Riordan and follows the story of Percy Jackson, a demigod son of Poseidon, as he navigates his newfound powers and quests to prevent a war among the gods.

You would learn so much more in the books. If you listen carefully, you can learn about the Greek gods and their past. But once again, the books pull through to give more information.
