Etienne Brule became a French Explorer because he was inspired by another French Explorer named Samuel de Champlain. He asked Champlain if he could explore with him. The only reason why Champlain said yes because he was thinking that Brule would do his plan for the Huron Peoples.
Samuel de Champlain wasn't a member of the French nobility. So he was given two successive titles. The first was Lieutenant to the Viceroy of New France. The second was Commandant under the authority of King Minister Richelieu. Charles Jacques Huault de Montmagny succeeded Champlain in the second office. As a member of the French nobility, however, he was given the title of Governor of New France and of Quebec City.
