George G. Stokes was a prominent scientist who worked at the University of Cambridge in England. He served as the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics from 1849 to 1903 and made significant contributions to fluid dynamics, optics, and mathematical physics. Stokes is perhaps best known for formulating Stokes' law and his work on the theory of light.
