to get a larvitar, u have to go to sandgem city. go talk to Dawn's/Lucas's sister and then look at the tv. talk 2 her again and she will tell u that there is a swarm of Pokemon somewhere in the Sinnoh region. the type of Pokemon will change every day so u can get different Pokemon. i suggest u change the date settings on ur ds 2 get the larvitar. it worked for me so it should work 4 u 2.
