John Wayne's former 2,000 acre ranch in California, called Rancho Pavoreal, is located in Sage, a small agricultural community at the eastern edge of the Temecula Wine Country located in Southwest Riverside County. Sage Road - also know as County Road R3 - is the main highway through Sage, running north into Hemet (where it becomes State Street) and south State Highway 79 in Aguanga.
John Wayne's former ranch, Rancho Pavoreal, is located on Stanley Road, just east of Sage Road. It was a cattle ranch and equestrian facility for several years in the recent past, but at the present time (January 2013) is inactive and watched over by a caretaker/ranch manager.
Rancho Pavoreal is bordered on the north by Walt Disney's former ranch (now known as Circle C Ranch) and Wolf Creek Ranch (location of Wolf Creek Dog Rescue), which are located on East Benton Road, past Tucalota Springs RV Resort and Sage Ranch.
