Well for the elite four I suggest your starter, the three legendary birds, whatever eevee form you have, and Raichu because it has strong attacks and high sp. atk. Also you can almost never go wrong with an electric (unless facing a ground type).

It all depends on what starter you chose. For example, if you chose bulbasaur you may want to catch a pikachu in virdian forest. If you chose squirtle, a bug type or a pidgey.
