Well they are different because Arcanine is just fire while Charizard is fire AND flying. Arcanine has good Attack and Special Attack. Charizard is good too. I personally like Arcanine better. Usually its Attack is better, so it can learn good physical moves and I'm pretty sure Arcanine can learn some rock type moves to take out Charizard.

∙ 13y agoFlareon is more uncommon because it's more difficult to obtain. Flareon also has higher base Attack and Defense than Arcanine. However, Arcanine has slightly higher Special Attack, a lot more HP, higher Special Defense, and higher Speed. Therefore, since Special Attack is the most important offensive stat for fire types (especially in Generations I-III, where all Fire-type attacks are Special), and since a higher speed would enable it to hit first, I think an Arcanine could probably beat a similarly-leveled and trained Flareon.
