Magnetos
principle in magnetos striction
It has not been possible to find a range of toys made by Magnetos. There is a range of building sets manufactured by Guidecraft called Magneatos. The toys consist of a range of panels and clips to make all sorts of shapes and buildings.

Electricity generators were often traditionally called magnetos (especially on automoblies and tractors) and are also called alternators. Generally speaking, alternators and magnetos produce AC (alternating current), while generators produce DC (direct current), thought the terms are often used without regard to the type of current produced.
Most mowers don't have a coil, they use magnetos for ignition. If it does have on it steps up voltage to a high level to jump the spark plug gap.
All magnetos work good. I have a Vertex, which has performed flawlessly for 15 years. Bought it used. It is over 20 years old. A friend has a Mallory, which has also performed flawlessly for at least that long.

Basically the second Magneto is provided as a fail safe. There are a lot of redundancies in aviation, especially when it comes to maintenance and safety. The second magneto on a single engine plane is there to contine to provide a spark to the engine in case of a failure of the first magneto.
Important products of this industry include armatures, starting motors, alternators, and generators for automobiles and aircraft, and ignition apparatus for internal combustion engines, including spark plugs, magnetos, coils, and distributors.
