General Zod, Ursa and Non. General Zod was an established character in the "Superman Universe", making his debut in the comics in April 1961.
Each era of DC Comics, (Silver, Bronze Age - to name a couple) has their own "version" of General Zod, though the character is still basically the same.
It is generally accepted that the "incarnation" of Zod most comic-book fans are familiar with was that he rose to prominence and became Krypton's "Military Leader", pompously awarding himself the title of "General Zod"
Ursa was a character created for the first two Christopher Reeve "Superman" movies. Her character traits were heavily influencened by the villianess known in the Superman comics as Faora Hul-Ul (she made her comic debut in May 1977 and will appear, alongside General Zod, in the upcoming "Man of Steel" movie. She has the power to "disrupt" kryptonian molecular density, among her other abilities.
Non was also a character created for Superman 1 & 2. A character (similar to Non) was a Kryptonian scientist, friend and colleague of Jor-el, who supported his (Jor-El's) views that Krypton was doomed and told other Kryptonians Jor-el's theory. Fearing panic, Kryptonian "Seperatists" captured Non and "Lobotomized" him. As a result, his only form of communication is guttural grunts and growls.
