He gets killed by Voldemort because Voldemort thinks that Snape is the rightful owner of the Elder Wand as he killed Dumbledore (the previous owner). To become the owner of the Elder Wand you have to overpower the previous owner of the wand.
Malfoy never held or owned the Elder Wand. He was the Master of the Elder Wand because he had disarmed Dumbledore, who was the owner of the Elder Wand. Harry later disarmed Malfoy, so he became the Master of the Elder Wand.
Harry became owner of the Elder wand because Draco disarmed Dumbledore who was the owner at the time, but when he was confronted and disarmed, Draco became the new owner. And when Harry, Ron and Hermione were escaping from being tortured, Harry disarmed Draco and he became the owner until the end when he destroyed it.
First, I must say that his name is spelled VoldemortThen I must ask if you read the books? And now I shall answer you.The Elder Wand was never the Dark Lord's. When Draco disarmed Dumbledore in the HBP, it became Draco's. However! When Harry disarmed Draco at Malfoy Manor and took his wand, the Elder Wand switched side again and became Harry's. The Elder Wand would not go against its true master, so even though He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named tried to curse Harry, it could not work! The wand flew through the air to its rightful master and Harry caught it
Harry gets it because Draco Malfoy took control of it when he disarmed Dumbledore. Harry forcibly took Draco's normal wand against Draco's will, and therefore became master of the elder wand. He physically took possession of it when the wand betrayed Voldemort, Voldemort died, and Harry took it.

Harry Potter became the rightful master of the Elder Wand. The Wand belongs to the person who defeats its current owner. On the Astronomy Tower right before Dumbledore was killed, Malfoy disarmed him therefore becoming the rightful master. Later on, in a scuffle in Malfoy Manor, Harry obtained Malfoy's wand and became the owner of the Elder Wand without knowing. Voldemort broke into Dumbledore's grave and stole the wand and tried to kill Harry with it, but because Harry was the wand's true master, the spell backfired and killed Voldemort. Harry eventually decided the wand was too powerful and destroyed it, after using it just once to mend his own wand.

The elder wand is passed down when the original owner is disarmed or is killed. The person who disarmed\killed the owner is now the owner of the elder wand.

You have to beat its owner. Usually this requires murdering the owner outside of a duel since the wand is supposed to be unbeatable.
Draco was the actual master of the elder wand because Dumbledore's death was already planned, so when Snape killed him, it wasn't actually a takeover of the wand. Because Draco was the last to disarm Dumbledore, or 'take' his wand, it recognized Draco as it's master. This is how Voldemort was ultimately killed, because Harry was using Draco's original wand. The elder wand recognized the wand as its master's, so Voldemort's killing curse was turned back upon him. However, Draco never actually had the Elder Wand in his possession. He never even knew he was the master until Harry revealed it.
Note: This may be a bit confusing. Ok, before Dumbledore (the owner of The Elder Wand) died Draco Malfoy disarmed him, Which makes Draco the Owner of the Wand, but he Doesn't Pick it up and Voldemort eventually gets It But Harry Disarms Draco making himself, owner of the Elder Wand. Voldemort Tries To Kill Harry With The Elder Wand using The Killing Curse but it Rebounds and Hits Voldemort because the Elder Wand won't kill Harry because It Belongs to him. :)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)(:)

Well the Elder wand has a long backstory but basically Dumbledore starts off with it in the book. Then when Draco disarms Dumbledore he becomes it's master unknowingly. Then Harry over powers Draco becoming the new owner. Voldemort kills Snape who killed Dumbledore so he BELIEVES that he is the true master of the Elder Wand. Then Harry and Voldemort face off Harry being the master of the Elder Wand. Voldemort's wand (The Elder wand) Then flies to it's true owner leaving Voldemort defenceless. Hope it helps!
