ANSWER:">ANSWER:well, it is true that the television series clues in that he ends up living in Germany the rest of his life acomanied Alphonse. but if you search fma ova on YouTube.com it shows his grandchildren. so obviously he was with someone.... and interestingly enough the grand-daughter looks very very VERY similar to Winry. its actually just one huge mystery....

Actually, in the manga, it's heavily, HEAVILY implied that he winds up with Winry Rockbell. :) It's never stated, but he's seen with Winry holding a child who looks strikingly similar to him (Winry holding a baby) with a ring on the traditional finger. Also, the last scene of the manga is an exchange between the two, which involved Ed saying something along the lines of 'I'll give you half of my life, so give me half of yours' and Winry replies by saying 'You want half? You can have all of it.' Needless to say, this is interpreted by many as a proposal. Hopefully we'll get a confirmation.

In Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood he does end up with Winry Rockbell too just like the manga.

After Ed's death, Al attempts human transmutation on him using himself (as the Philosopher's Stone) as material for equivalent exchange. When Ed awakens, he finds that his arm and leg are flesh and blood again, but Al has been taken by the Gate. In attempt to bring back Al, Ed attempts human transmutation, offering his own life. As a result, Al is returned to his body, albeit his memory is completely reset to the day he and Ed attempted to recreate their mother. Meanwhile, Mustang successfully kills Führer Bradley with the help of Selim Bradley, who unintentionally weakens his adoptive father by bringing him the remains of the human on which the Führer was based. Selim is killed by the Führer in his anger before Mustang takes his advantage. Al is back in Amestris now, but Ed, instead of dying, is pulled through the Gate and is in Munich. The brothers both resolve to meet each other again .
