Several members of the West Yorkshire BRAY family were named 'Admiral.' In these cases it is always a forename, a given name, a Christian name and does not refer to naval rank.

One was born in Leeds around 1812, and another was in the workhouse at Rastrick [between Huddersfield and Brighouse] in about 1860. Other examples occure but these spring readily to mind.

I believe the Rastrick Admiral Bray is a relative of my branch [twig] of the ubiquitous and [sometimes] noble Bray family.
