During Mozart's lifetime Antonio Salieri was director of the Imperial Opera in Vienna. That being the case, Maestro Salieri is the person Mozart would have dealt with when producing and performing his operas. They actually got along rather well together despite rumours to the contrary. After Salieri resigned his position as Director of the Opera, the two of them became friends for a short time before Mozart's premature death.
