Geoffroi was the son of Rivallon de Dol/Combourg. Originally from Dol, he relocated to Mayenne, married and had several children. Nothing is mentioned about who he married. He and his descendants are referred as the Lord(Seigneurie) Saint Berthevin la Tanniere, Levare, Ernee, Brece, Buron, Hemenard and many other seigneuries. His son Geoffrey went to England and eventually was the 16th Abbot of Saint Albans. William his brother was given Berwick by Henry I, Rivallon was the Lord of Gorron, son in law of Walter de Mayenne. Geoffrois' descendants took the surname de Gorron/Gorram and those who relocated to England angelsized the name to Gorham.
