Hans-Joachim Marseille was a Luftwaffe fighter ace during WWII.He had 158 confirmed kills. He was also young, handsome, and practically a poster boy for the Luftwaffe, who received large amounts of fan mail regularly.Althought he had been shot down several times during The Battle of Britain, after a certain point in his carear his aim improved rapidly, and he became famous for missions with multiple kills using relatively little ammunition needed. Marseille's fame in Germany was so great that high level Nazis, visiting with him for photo ops, never raised any objections to his longish hair and the fact that in his personal bar he privately employed a black bartender. He died in 1942,while bailing out of an ME-109,and was hit by the tail.He was 22.
