Most of Jeremiah's prophetic work can be understood to have occurred around Jerusalem, since there were regular mentions of the King and Princes in the royal household. He was also imprisoned in Jerusalem for a time.

In the Old Testament the prophet Jeremiah , who is also called the weeping prophet because he repented and wept and asked the Jews to also repent as god will be angry and punish them , by sending them captive to Babylon.

The prophet Jeremiah or also known as the weeping prophet as he wept and warned the people repeatedly to repent to the lord of their sins, and their wicked ways. He said if they failed to repent god would punish them badly. But they failed to listen and repent. And in the end god saw they were taken as captives to Babylon and the temple ransacked and destroyed.

jeremiah warned the Jews to repent and stay away from idol worship, but they failed to do so, and were taken captive to Babylon as he said it would happen.
