Shah Waliullah's writings were significant for their role in reviving and reforming Islamic thought in the Indian subcontinent during the 18th century. He emphasized the need for a rational interpretation of Islam, integrating traditional teachings with contemporary challenges. His works, such as "Hujjatullah al-Baligha," aimed to bridge the gap between different Islamic sects and promote unity. Additionally, he laid the groundwork for later movements that sought to address social and political issues within the Muslim community.

They read the Quran but as it was in Arabic very few could understand its meaning and thus they did not act upon its teachings. Shah wali ullah then translated the Quran into Persian for the muslaims to understand and act upon.
