Fred doesn't really have a catch phrase, but he will say "Let's split up, gang." As the leader of the gang, he will sometimes direct others with what to do, especially in "Scooby Doo Where Are You!" In "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo!" he would often blame the crime on Red Herring. In "Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated", he talks about traps alot.
Daphne Blake decided not to rejoin the gang in episode 27 of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated because Fred Jones had broken her heart by breaking their engagement to find his real parents, and she wanted to move on and never see him again. (She was also dating movie star Baylor Hotner at the time).
The original Scooby-Doo! series was partially the brainchild of former CBS executive Fred Silverman who proposed a daytime show to Hanna-Barbera based on the 40s radio show, "I Love a Mystery." The actual character design of the Mystery Inc. gang (i.e. Fred, Velma, Daphne, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo) was the work of the late, great Iwao Takamoto. Takamoto is quoted to have said that Scooby himself was designed purposefully anthropomorphic, an idea that came to him after a conversation with an anonymous great-dane breeder at Hanna-Barbera Studios about all of the important characteristics of the dogs.
They give him a scooby snack.
