According to legend they were the greatest champions of chivalry and the personal companions of King Arthur.

There were 150 of them.

The Knights of the Round Table were people in the legends about King Arthur. They were highest honored knights in the kingdom, and lived in King Arthur's personal castle, Camelot. They were called that because of a special table in Camelot, that was round instead of rectangular. This meant that everyone who sat around it was seen as equal to one another.

What did Sir Galahad?

He, being destined as the most worthy of all knights, is the only knight to sit in the Seat Perilous. This is significant because before his coming, any man who dared sit in that chair was destroyed. When he was fifteen, Galahad was knighted by his father, Sir Lancelot, and joined the Knights of the Round Table. He was the last to join the group and the only occupant of the Seat. Another point of significance is that he who sits in the Seat Perilous will also achieve the Holy Grail. Before this time none of the knights of Arthur's Court was able to get it. Galahad is most famous for achieving that sacred relic and then devote his life, giving up his earthly state, to God.
