Gordon Astley has written: 'The Tiswas file' -- subject(s): Tiswas (Television program)
Tiswas was a Saturday morning TV show aimed at children, in the UK. Colloquially "Being in in a tiswas" means being totally confused and bewildered, and the producers said it also stood for "Today Is Saturday Watch And Smile."

The British TV show Tiswas ran from 1974 to 1982, and it had a number of presenters throughout its run. Chris Tarrant and John Asher were the original presenters. Asher left, and other filled in here and there until Trevor East and Peter Tomlinson (who created the show) came in. Tarrant, Tomlinson and East slogged onward. Sally James came aboard later, as did Jim Davidson, but Davidson left after only a few shows (returning for cameos). Tomlinson was dropped at about this time, and John Gorman and Paul Hardin began to come and go. John Gorman and Bob Carolgees got on as regulars, but Lenny Henry, after making a few appearances, did not. Paul Hardin became a bit more frequent, and Sylvester McCoy was considered a regular. Norman Collier also appeared here and there. Personel changes saw everyone gone but Sally James, and she was joined by Gordon Astley, Den Hegarty and Fogwell Flax. David Rappaport, Emil Wolk and Trevor James also appeared intermittently, but by this time, Tiswas was headed toward oblivion for a number of reasons. The plural possessive adjective their is correct, because the antecedent is the plural noun 'presenters'.
No, the pronouns 'his or her' is incorrect. The pronoun their is correct because the antecedent (presenters) is plural."Most presenters spoke without looking at theirnotes."
Now, in 2012, the presenters are Helen Skelton and Barney Harwood, CBBC presenter.
The correct pronoun-antecedent agreement would be "their notes" instead of "his or her notes" to be inclusive of all presenters regardless of gender. "Most presenters spoke without looking at their notes."
