Also, a rare card or higher rarity will be worth at least $2 because of its shiny glow on the card. The material must be something to do with the value as well as the effectiveness of the card in tournament duels.
It's the same old story - supply and demand.
You have to take various factors into account.
1 - The game has many players, and a very active tournament scene, with expensive prizes.
2 - Some cards are very strong, game-wise, but hard to obtain from packs.
3 - These cards are so strong, that without them, you don't really have a chance at winning those tournaments.
4 - Since the cards are in high demand (the tournament players need them, and need 3 of them) and the supply is low, the price is correspondingly high. Pot of Duality is one such card, fetching around £60 - £70 each.
